Island Highlights

Loch Druidibeg

Loch Druidibeag is a National Nature Reserve where colourful grassland on the coast graduually gives way to moorland and lochans.

Scolpaig

Scolpaig Tower is a Georgian folly located near the village of Scolpaig.

Traigh Eais

Traigh Eais is sandy beach over a mile long, bordered on the east side by a extensive area of sand dunes.

Traigh Bhostadh (Bosta Beach)

Traigh Bhostadh is a sheltered shell sand beach at the north end of Great Bernera. The Iron Age House and Time and Tide Bell are both sited here, along with ample parking and toilets.

Traigh Scarista

Facing out into the Atlantic Traigh Scarasta has dramatic views over the Sound of Taransay from its white sand beach.

St Kilda

St Kilda, a world double heritage site, is situated some 45 miles west of Grimnish Point on North Uist

Ard Feinis

Ard Feinis is a rocky promontory just south of Mangurstadh in the south west of Lewis.

Traigh Seilebost

Traigh Seilebost is a beautiful sandy beach on the south side of Traigh Luskentyre.

Rueval

This is the panoramic view from the top of Rueval (Ruabhal), which is the highest point on Benbecula. Look out for the birds of prey as you climb this hill.

Lemreway

Lemreway is a small crofting and fishing village on the shores of Loach Sealg in the South Lochs area of Lewis.

Vatersay Bay

Vatersay is the southernmost inhabited island in the Outer Hebrides. It is now linked to Barra by a causeway which was completed in 1991

Bearsdaire

Berneray and the nearby island of Pabbay lie in the Sound of Harris between North Uist and Harris

Dun Cuier

A well preserved iron age galleried dun situated on hill to the east of Cuier cemetery

Traigh Iar

Traigh Noisaboist (Nisabost) is a spectacular west coast beach with extensive views across the Sound of Taransay.

Traigh na Croise

Hushinish

Hushinish is a small settlement of only 4 houses overlooking a white sand beach in the far west of Harris

Balranald RSPB Nature Reserve

A beautiful reserve on the north west coast of North Uist with sandy beaches, rocky foreshore,, marshes and sand dunes.

Stornoway Harbour

Stornoway with its population of about 6000 is the main port and administrative centre on the Isle of Lewis.

Bridge to Nowhere

The Bridge was built - and there was meant to be a road that would ling Tolsta to Skigersta at Ness. The mixing of many tons of concrete went into making the bridge and this was all done by hand!

Seilebost

Seilebost is a small crofting village on the coast road along the west side of Harris.

Luskentyre

The beach at Luskentyre is the largest and most spectacular of all the Harris beaches.

Miabhag

Miabhag (Miavag) is a small setttlemen in North Harris of just a few houses situated on the narrow single track road from Tarbet to Hushinish.

Traigh Mhor

The Traigh Mhor is a mile long sandy beach at North Tolsta in the unspoilt north east part of the Isle of Lewis

Bagh Steinigidh

Bag Steinigidh lies between Scarasta and Borve on the west coast of Harris.

    This area, from the township of Taobh Tuath to the headland of Rubh' an Teampaill, has numerous sites of archaeological significance.
