We are located in the newly renovated pottery buildings at Coll. This former commercial pottery was a major ceramics manufacturer for around 40 years, finally closing in 2009. It now provides studio space for several craftspeople, together with two galleries in which to browse their work and that of selected local artists. We also have a viewing area where visitors can watch us work and maybe have a chat.
Current residents:
Solus Studio Glass - Kiln formed glass, recycled glass and jewellery.
Alan Whittle Ceramics - Hand built and wheel thrown ceramics, cold cast Celtic and local interest sculpture.
Aidan's Forge - Artist blacksmith working in forged metal.
Sitheil Design - Polymer clay and Chainmaille jewellery.
The Oystercatcher Tearoom serves simple refreshments: teas, coffees, cakes, soup, and oven baked potatoes with vegetarian and vegan options available. We also offer free wifi.
To find us, travel out of Stornoway on the A857 Barvas Road. Turn right onto the B895 to Tolsta, after passing Laxdale School. Follow the road for about 5 miles. We are on the left hand side, set slightly back off the road.
