Inter Island Ferries

The islands not linked by causeway or bridge can be travelled to by ferry service and this means all islands in the archipelago are inter-linked.

Caledonian Macbrayne offer this ferry service. and there are small car ferries linking Leverburgh, Harris with Berneray in North Uist and Eriskay, South Uist with Ardmhor, Barra.

These ferries are a great place to watch for wildlife, in particular the ferries are points on the Bird of Prey Trail, so look out for white-tailed eagles who are often seen perched on low lying islands and skerries!

Caledonian MacBrayne ferries in the Outer Hebrides operate a pet friendly policy meaning your furry friends are welcome to accompany you when take the ferry.
