Traigh Scarista

Facing out into the Atlantic Traigh Scarasta has dramatic views over the Sound of Taransay from its white sand beach.

Coll Beach

Beautiful beach approximately five miles from Stornoway. Suitable for walking, wind-surfing, kite flying. There is also a caravan park with toilets

Luskentyre

The beach at Luskentyre is the largest and most spectacular of all the Harris beaches.

Vatersay Bay

Vatersay is the southernmost inhabited island in the Outer Hebrides. It is now linked to Barra by a causeway which was completed in 1991

Lemreway

Lemreway is a small crofting and fishing village on the shores of Loach Sealg in the South Lochs area of Lewis.

Kisimul Castle

Kisimul Castle sits on a rocky islet just off the coast of Barra at Castlebay

Traigh Mhor

The Traigh Mhor is a mile long sandy beach at North Tolsta in the unspoilt north east part of the Isle of Lewis

St Kilda, a world double heritage site, is situated some 45 miles west of Grimnish Point on North Uist

Camas Uige or Uig Bay is in a national scenic area in the south west of Lewis.

Traigh Dhail Mhor (Dalmore)

Dail Mhor (Dalmore) is a long sandy beach with sea stacks, on the Atlantic Coast of the Isle of Lewis

Bagh Mor

The Island of Grimsay is made up of tidal sands, sea lochs, small islands and islets, and is situated between Benbecula and North Uist.

Camas na Clibhe (Cliff Beach)

Camas na Clibhe (Cliff beach) is a quartz sand beach situated on the Valtos peninsular in the Uig parish of Lewis.

Bearsdaire

Berneray and the nearby island of Pabbay lie in the Sound of Harris between North Uist and Harris

Bagh Steinigidh

Bag Steinigidh lies between Scarasta and Borve on the west coast of Harris.

Hushinish

Hushinish is a small settlement of only 4 houses overlooking a white sand beach in the far west of Harris

Traigh Seilebost

Traigh Seilebost is a beautiful sandy beach on the south side of Traigh Luskentyre.

Heaval

Heaval is the highest point on the Isle of Barra at 383 metres

Crosbost

The peaceful crofting village of Crosbost is reached near the end of the B897 road that branches of the main Stornoway to Tarbet road at Liurbost.

Dun Cuier

A well preserved iron age galleried dun situated on hill to the east of Cuier cemetery

Butt of Lewis (Rubha Rohanais)

Rubha Robhais (Butt of Lewis) is the most northerly tip of the Isle of Lewis.

Traigh  Ghearadha

Triaigh Ghearadha is a beautiful sandy beach at the end of the B895 road in the unspoilt north east part of Lewis.

Conachair

Conachair at 376 metres is the highest point of St Kilda

Balranald RSPB Nature Reserve

A beautiful reserve on the north west coast of North Uist with sandy beaches, rocky foreshore,, marshes and sand dunes.

Bridge to Nowhere

The Bridge was built - and there was meant to be a road that would ling Tolsta to Skigersta at Ness. The mixing of many tons of concrete went into making the bridge and this was all done by hand!

  2. Northton temple harris
    This area, from the township of Taobh Tuath to the headland of Rubh' an Teampaill, has numerous sites of archaeological significance.
