About

Along with a Boat Museum, housing five of the best preserved Grimsay boats, the Heritage Centre comprises a café serving good food, barista coffee, speciality teas and baking, a shop selling arts, crafts and gifts from Uist and Hebridean producers and makers, a rich local history archive and the Grimsay Post Office. It offers a year round programme of events and activities including traditional ceilidhs, heritage craft workshops, monthly talks, art exhibitions, table top sales, quiz and bingo nights and family fun days.

Gaelic is still a living language in Grimsay and some of GCA’s events are Gaelic focussed or bilingual. There is a monthly Folk and Live Music Club, fortnightly dementia friendly health walks and a weekly craft café. The Centre is a vibrant community hub where everyone is welcome, and a fantastic base for visitors to learn about island life and traditions.
