About

This spectacular beach is open north west into the Atlantic and receives the full westerly swell from the ocean. It is surrounded by some of the highest cliffs on Lewis. The beach shape means that it is not a safe beach to swim from.
The beach lends itself well to panoramic images taken from high up on the cliffs on the north side of the bay. Look for the stream running through the sand making interesting patterns. This vantage point is good for spotting gannets and other seabirds fishing.

Photographers Tip

Photography is best here early or late in the day, and sunsets over the Atlantic can be spectacular.
