In The Chessmen, Uig Gala day is taking place at Ardroil beach in front of Uig Lodge. Fin and Gunn arrive looking for their suspect and end up in a boat chase which takes them past Gallan Head and into the caves at Pabbay.  Fin and Detective Gunn arrive at the caves and despite their best effort are witness to a tragedy.

"The scream that reverberated around the cave turned Fin's blood to ice. He had no time even to open his mouth to shout "No!" before he saw the light glinting of the curve of the boathook........"

Pabbay, is a small uninhabited island located a few hundred metres off Reef beach in Loch Roag. You can see the caves for yourself with Seatrek at Miavaig. They do boat trips out the many of the islands in Loch Roag.
