The official award-winning locally based not-for-profit Destination Management Organisation (DMO) community interest company for the Outer Hebrides.
Any tourism-related business can join as member and benefit from a host of business and marketing services, including a dedicated web page on the go to website for the Outer Hebrides with 2 million plus hits per year. We heavily promote our website on our social media which has 123k followers and we can boast of a reach of around 3.5 million.
Our membership of almost 400 independent businesses across all sectors of the industry, account for more than half of tourism spend in the islands. We are a collaborative, dynamic and forward thinking community interest membership organisation. Our aims are ambitious, and our Outlook 2030 strategy plans are in place to positively enhance the benefits of tourism across the Outer Hebrides by delivering an outstanding experience for our visitors, and the very best for our businesses, our people, our communities, and our environment. We aspire to a sustainable visitor economy that supports, not damages, these shared values.
By joining Outer Hebrides Tourism, businesses and organisations are not only making an investment in the future of tourism on our islands but, as an independent trade organisation, with a growing membership we can continue to be the strong and persuasive voice of tourism in the Outer Hebrides to effect change.
Independent of VisitScotland and the local authority, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, we are run as a social enterprise. Our focus is using our membership fees to reinvest any surplus for the benefit of tourism and communities of the Outer Hebrides.
