About

Barra Sands Campsite offers a relaxed feel with beautiful views to the west, north and east. The sunsets are particularly gorgeous in the summer with many people being “camera ready” for the setting sun on a warm summer evening.

We are a dog friendly site with dog waste bins supplied for a clean site.

There is a local bus service that stops at the junction just along from the entrance to the site. This will take you to Castlebay in the morning and returns in the afternoon. There are local Taxi services who also offer tours of the island if required.

If hill walking is your passion there is a lot of common grazing land that is easily accessible and can lead to beaches that can be easily accessed for a day by the sea.

If you would like to investigate with the little ones, there is a rocky shoreline on the West side that is about a half mile walk from our site. This offers lots of rock pools with small sea life to explore.

Watching the plane land on the only commercial runway in the word that is washed twice a day by the tide, is a favourite for visitors to watch at take off and landing times.

The local fish factory in Northbay is half way to Castlebay and is kept stocked with catches of the day from the local fishing boats. It has a shop open to the public for offerings of fresh fish and shellfish alike.

If you are looking for a relaxed getaway with easy exploring for the surrounding area, then look no further.
