About

Whilst round-leaved Sundew is common on Barra, the oblong-leaved variety can only be seen in one or two areas. The Sundew, like the Butterworts which are also plentiful in Barra, are insectiverous. This means that they are able to thrive in the nutrient-poor soils that they inhabit, because they get their nutrients from the insects they trap and digest.
