About

If you are really looking for an escape from it all, head to an island off of an island off of the west coast of Scotland. That's where you'll find Baleshare Bothies, set on the tiny island of Baleshare, connected to North Uist via a narrow boulder-protected causeway, in the Outer Hebrides.

'Bothy' is Scot-slang for a little hut or cottage found in a remote setting and, once you see our two wooden glamping pods, you’ll understand how fitting the name is. Set back from the shores of Baleshare Beach, with breath-taking views towards the North Atlantic, our secluded and simple (Wi-Fi-free) site on the machair looks like it has come out of thin air.

Our pods Heisgeir (a name for the nearby, uninhabited, Monach islands) and Hiort (the Gaelic name for the largest island in the St Kilda archipelago) are available all year round.

Each cosy, self-catering glamping pod can comfortably sleep 2 people, allowing room for a maximum of 4 people with 1 small double bed and 1 small double sofa bed. The two identical pods also contain bed linen and towels, lavatory with wash hand basin and freestanding shower cubicle, equipped kitchenette, electric hob, microwave, small fridge freezer, kettle and toaster, folding dining table with chairs, small television, electric heater, outdoor dining area with picnic bench and a firepit. The only difference between the two pods? Our ‘Hiort’ pod accepts dogs!

We are perfect for those who enjoy the outdoors, walking, cycling, bird watching, fishing, watersports and much more!

More commonly hired out separately, the pods can also be hired out for ‘exclusive use’.
