Spotting Tip

Short-eared owls are the only owl  species that regularly forage in daylight hours. They fly low over the ground and are easily identified by their short tails and large rounded heads.

Other wildlife

In the summer listen out for the cacking calls of red-throated divers as they fly overhead between their breeding lochs on the peatlands and their feeding areas at sea.

How to get there?

The car park is adjacent to the A867 six miles from Lochmaddy.
