About

Mangersta is the coastal area in The Black Loch where Niall’s farm illegally dumps polluted salmon. It is central to Caitlin and Iseabail’s activism and they discover the illegal dumping here.

“She said, ‘It started in the early summer. We’d just begun shooting the first video sequences for the new series of Canùdh agus Cuan. We were down near Mangersta, you know, off the south-west coast. In among all those sea stacks. A beautiful day. The sea was like glass, and you could see all the way across to St Kilda.”

Extract from The Black Loch by Peter May.

There are plenty of things to do around Mangersta. Visit the iconic Mangersta Bothy and take in the dramatic sea stacks along the coast. Stop by the local distillery for a taste of island spirit, and enjoy a meal at the Uig Sands Restaurant with its stunning views. Relax on the beautiful Mangersta Beach, and don’t miss the Mangersta Gallery.
