Discover the Spirit of the Hebrides at Benbecula Distillery, one of Scotland’s newest independent island distilleries. Opened in 2024 by a local crofter, our distillery was created with a vision to craft exceptional Hebridean whisky while supporting island revitalisation and celebrating local heritage. Located in the heart of Benbecula, we welcome visitors to experience our distillery through guided tours and tastings, where you can learn about our whisky-making journey and sample our range of Hebridean spirits. Alongside our developing single malt, we proudly offer gin, rum, and award-winning bottled whisky.
Our Visitor Centre is more than a distillery stop, it’s a place to relax, explore, and connect with island culture. Browse displays from local artists and collectors and enjoy the warm atmosphere of our café. We serve freshly made soups, sandwiches, coffee, cakes, and local seafood, making us an ideal stop while exploring the Uists. Whether you’re a whisky enthusiast, a foodie, or simply looking for a welcoming place to enjoy the views, Benbecula Distillery offers an authentic Hebridean experience with something for everyone. Visit us during your stay in the Outer Hebrides, join a tasting, enjoy lunch in the café, or follow our journey online to discover the newest spirit of the islands.
