About

Atlantic View Cottage is a detached, traditional Hebridean stone cottage overlooking the Atlantic on the beautiful island of Great Bernera. Built in the 1950s, it was home to four generations of our family before being carefully renovated in 2011. Today, it combines the character and warmth of a much-loved family home with the comfort, quality and attention to detail expected of a well-appointed holiday retreat.

Perfectly situated on the scenic coastal walking route to Bosta Beach, the cottage is an ideal base for exploring one of the Isle of Lewis’s most beautiful landscapes. The walk leads to the white sands of Bosta and its reconstructed Iron Age roundhouse, while the surrounding coastline offers spectacular views, abundant wildlife and unforgettable sunsets.

Walkers, wildlife enthusiasts and kayakers will all find plenty to enjoy. Outstanding coastal walks begin from the doorstep, while excellent kayaking opportunities can be found nearby around Loch Roag and the surrounding coastline.

Inside, the cottage retains its traditional island character with high ceilings, deep window sills and original features, complemented by solid oak furniture and quality furnishings throughout. The result is a warm, welcoming and comfortably refined space designed for relaxed island living. The cosy living room centres around a multi-fuel wood burner, perfect for unwinding after a day outdoors, while oil central heating ensures year-round comfort. The bright, well-equipped kitchen enjoys afternoon and evening sunshine.

The cottage comfortably sleeps up to four guests in two bedrooms. The principal bedroom has a king-size bed and an en-suite walk-in shower room, while the second bedroom features versatile zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as twin singles or a super king-size bed. A separate family bathroom, also with a walk-in shower in addition to a bath, provides excellent space and convenience for families or friends travelling together.

Full-fibre broadband is available throughout the cottage, making it ideal for guests who need to stay connected, work remotely or meet a project deadline while enjoying the peace and beauty of the Outer Hebrides.

Atlantic View Cottage is also one of our pet-friendly properties, so your four-legged companion can enjoy the island’s beaches and walking trails alongside you.

While many guests come for a short break, the cottage is particularly well suited to longer stays, allowing time to fully experience the rhythm of island life, explore the wider Isle of Lewis and Harris, and enjoy the changing light, tides and wildlife at a relaxed pace.

Whether you’re seeking outdoor adventure, island history, photography or simply a peaceful escape, Atlantic View Cottage offers a warm Hebridean welcome in a place where four generations of one family have created lasting memories.
