The folly was built on the site of an Iron Age broch by Dr Alexander Macleod in the 1830’s to provided work during a famine. Now open to the elements, it is a nesting place for birds.
The late Murdo Alex Macritchie, known as ‘The Hebridean Chef’, created HAAR to showcase his innovative style of cooking using traditional ingredients. This book includes recipes, photographs of dishes and stunning island landscapes that were so important to him.
