About

Drive through Balranald township as if heading out on to the machair. The tar road goes through a reed bed where the black-headed males can be found singing during spring and summer. Birds are often more vocal in early morning and the evening. In the winter check cattle feeding areas.

Visual Description
Generally a 'little brown job' type of bird, but males distinctive with jet back head and white drooping moustache and collar.
