About

The black-headed males can be found singing from the reed bed on the west side of Loch Thallan. In the winter check the corn stacks that often hold many birds on the machair. In the summer most vocal in the early morning and evening. In the winter search the machair along the edge of the reed bed.

Visual Description
Generally a 'little brown job' type of bird, but males distinctive with jet back head and white drooping moustache and collar.
