At the southern end of the island you will find a monument to one of Berneray’s most notable sons, Giant Macaskill (Aonghas Mor MacAsgaill). Born in Berneray, he spent most of his life in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and he was said to be the world largest giant at a height of 7ft 9in.
