Only a ten-minute walk from the town centre, Lews Castle and Grounds is a must-visit. Explore woodland heritage trails, mountain bike routes, a sunken garden, and scenic harbour views. Visit Museum nan Eilean within the castle grounds to see six of the world-famous Lewis Chessmen, an essential experience for anyone interested in Hebridean history.
After exploring the castle, head back into town and stop at Charles Macleod Butchers or W J Macdonald’s to taste the famous Stornoway Black Pudding. Enjoy lunch at HS 1, a local favourite in the town centre.
