A big thank you to everyone who joined us at Cnoc Soilleir in Daliburgh, South Uist on Tuesday 21 April 2026. It was a fantastic afternoon, bringing together a real cross section of the tourism community across Uist and Barra. From accommodation providers and activity and attraction operators to makers, food and drink businesses, community groups and local organisations, the room was full of insight, energy and more than a few people juggling multiple roles.
We heard the latest informative updates from Sarah Maclean on our activity, alongside an engaging session from Sue Reid on how AI is beginning to shape visitor behaviour and the wider industry. Ceiteag Macdonald also shared valuable insights into Gaelic in the workplace, highlighting simple ways it can benefit your business through the Neart a’Ghàidhlig workplace charter.
The 5 minute spotlight sessions were a real highlight, giving businesses and organisations the chance to share what they do, sparking conversations and there was the opportunity to share leaflets as well.
Despite the ongoing ferry challenges, the session was upbeat and constructive. It was a real reminder of how much passion and collaboration there is across Uist and Barra.
We had a number of presentations:
1. Sarah Maclean, VOH, CEO - Welcome and update
2. Sue Reid, VOH, Chair - AI Presentation - How AI is Shaping our Industry
3. Ceiteag Macdonald - Gaelic in the Workplace Charter “Neart a’Ghàidhlig”
4. Victoria Harvey - VisitScotland Support
5. Corinna Krause - Sollas Bookbinding
6. Louise Cook - Shoreline Stoneware
7. Mairi Maclean - Outer Hebrides Heritage Forum
