Am Politician was built over 30 years ago, taking its name from the stricken vessel S.S Politician which ran aground off Eriskay in 1941. The island is steeped in history and in the bar, you will find some of the artefacts salvaged from the S.S Politician.
Under new ownership as of June 2018, Am Politician has a new lease of life. The new owners aim to make this establishment the hub of the island community. Expect a warm Hebridean welcome from the minute you arrive from both the staff and the locals.
Now open ALL year round, Am Politician uses locally sourced seafood and produce for delicious homecooked meals. Whether you fancy a 3 course meal, a snack or something for the kids Am Politician serves meals all day.
Beautiful views can be enjoyed from the conservatory or if you fancy braving the Hebridean weather, the beer garden is a great place to sit and admire the local wildlife and views. With live music at the weekends and a large selection of drinks to choose from Am Politician should not be missed. Only a 5-minute drive from the Eriskay-Barra ferry terminal or a 30-minute walk, why not stop by.
