About

Unique camping pod accommodation which is a perfect quirky alternative to traditional camping, self-catering, bed and breakfast, hostelling and hotels.

Designed specifically for guests travelling and exploring Uist and the Hebrides, we offer simple but functional accommodation. Our accommodation comprises of double pods, a four-bed pod and a sole use four-bed bunk room within our communal building. The four-bed pod and bunkroom can be reserved for 2 or 3 guests at a discount rate. Guests share a large well-equipped kitchen/ living area and there are 5 shower rooms – with probably the most powerful showers in The Hebrides.

All our pods are fully insulated and very cosy. Our double pods have sturdy turf roofs, porches, camping chairs and fire pits (we can sell you locally produced fuel). All pods have electricity and bedding is included. Each pod has it’s own distinctive views of nature, croft land, the sea, distant mountains, and islands. The pods are sited so you can’t see another pod from your own, this gives the impression you are totally on your own - we call it Mild camping!!!  Perfect for relaxing and watching the world (and birdlife) go by.

The pod site is spacious, dog friendly, has no minimum stay, free parking, E-bike hire and an EV charger – we have solar panels that provide us some of the energy we use. Large groups requiring sole use of the site are welcome.

North Uist is still a well-kept secret. It has quiet deserted beaches, spectacular but climbable mountains, birdlife in abundance, rare and spectacular flora and fauna, excellent seafood, and a wealth of culture and heritage. At the Tractor Shed we can tell you the places to go which aren’t in the guidebooks!

We are located on the edge of the village of Paible which has a licensed shop and 24 hour petrol station. Just 2 miles away is North Uist’s only pub. Kyles beach is a 10 minute walk away and forms a chain of deserted beaches that stretch 8 miles up to Balranald nature reserve.
