About

Relax in 5-star comfort at the former blacksmiths workshop on the beautiful small island of Berneray in the Outer Hebrides. Combining crofting heritage with luxury accommodation, The Smiddy provides the perfect Hebridean retreat for one or two people. Cozy, yet spacious. Underfloor heating throughout and a jaccuzzi bath to soak in after those long walks.

The Smiddy includes a shower/wet room, a utility area, a small studio/viewing room complete with telescope, a bike/storage shed and an open plan kitchen/dining/living area with panoramic views across the machair. TV, sound system & Wi Fi provided or - just sit back and watch ‘Farm TV’.

Explore the nearby West Beach, a 3-mile expanse of white sand & turquoise water, once famously used to advertise a Thai resort. Island hop to Harris for the day, or cross the causeway to the Uists.

Experience the peace and natural beauty of Berneray with its ever-changing colours & moods of machair, ocean & skies across the seasons. Watch for bird life, otters & seals. Stroll through carpets of wildflowers. Catch a glimpse of that elusive corncrake or the magical displays of the Northern Lights. Unwind and rejuvenate. Treat yourself!
