About

Taigh John is a newly renovated property in the beautiful village of Cluer in the Bays of Harris.

The two bedroom semi-detached property has been fully renovated and modernised by owner, John Macleod, who strove to bring life back to a property which lain empty for many years.

The house has a fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher and washer/dryer and its breakfast bar looks onto patio doors with views over the sea to the Isle of Skye.

The open plan living area has a seating space where you can relax after a long day of exploring Harris. The living area leads on to a dining space with a handmade Harris Tweed river dining table and chairs and a fold out sofa bed.

The bathroom includes a large bath with a rainfall shower had and a silent fan.

Upstairs is a double bedroom, and second bedroom with two single beds.

Outside is a large decking space area with views looking out to sea. Watch the ferry coming in from Skye as you sit at the breakfast bar or outside on the decking.

Taigh John is in an excellent location for exploring the Isle of Harris with only a 15 minute drive to the main village of Tarbert with shops, restaurants and fuel station. In the other direction, Taigh John is also only a 15-minute drive away from the beautiful beaches of Harris.

Dogs are welcome at Taigh John but we ask that they are kept on the ground floor and there is a surcharge of £50 for bookings including dogs.

Taigh John is not named after its current owner but is named after its last resident, John MacDowall. John was a character and was very much part of the lives of his neighbours. Current owner John’s father lives next door, the two houses have always been in his family.
