About

The' SS Politician' struck rocks near here in the Sound of Eriskay on its way to America in 1941. It was loaded with 264,000 bottles of scotch whisky.The film 'Whisky Galore" was based on this incident.

The ferry terminal for the car and passenger ferry to Barra is situated adjacent to this beach.

Photographers Tip

A long sandy beach which lends itself very well for photography in evening light. There is a small outcrop of rocks at the south end of the beach.
