Island Highlights

Traigh  Ghearadha

Triaigh Ghearadha is a beautiful sandy beach at the end of the B895 road in the unspoilt north east part of Lewis.

Seilebost

Seilebost is a small crofting village on the coast road along the west side of Harris.

Vatersay Bay

Vatersay is the southernmost inhabited island in the Outer Hebrides. It is now linked to Barra by a causeway which was completed in 1991

Traigh na Croise

Miabhag

Miabhag (Miavag) is a small setttlemen in North Harris of just a few houses situated on the narrow single track road from Tarbet to Hushinish.

Traigh Dhail Beag (Dalbeg)

Traigh Dail Beag (Dalbeg) is a lovely small bay and beach on the west side of Lewis.

Kisimul Castle

Kisimul Castle sits on a rocky islet just off the coast of Barra at Castlebay

Bagh Mor

The Island of Grimsay is made up of tidal sands, sea lochs, small islands and islets, and is situated between Benbecula and North Uist.

Sound of Taransay

The Sound of Taransay lies between the main west coast of Harris and the beautiful island of Taransay.

Tiumpan Head

Tiumpan Head is located at the far eastern end of the Eye peninsula on Lewis

Ard Feinis

Ard Feinis is a rocky promontory just south of Mangurstadh in the south west of Lewis.

St Kilda

St Kilda, a world double heritage site, is situated some 45 miles west of Grimnish Point on North Uist

Bearsdaire

Berneray and the nearby island of Pabbay lie in the Sound of Harris between North Uist and Harris

Hushinish

Hushinish is a small settlement of only 4 houses overlooking a white sand beach in the far west of Harris

Callanish Standing Stones

The Callanish Stones can be found near the village of Callanish in west Lewis just above Loch Roag.

Butt of Lewis (Rubha Rohanais)

Rubha Robhais (Butt of Lewis) is the most northerly tip of the Isle of Lewis.

Loch Bee

Loch Bee is a very large brackish loch which stretches from the west side of South Uist to the east side

Bagh Steinigidh

Bag Steinigidh lies between Scarasta and Borve on the west coast of Harris.

Port Nis

Port Nis (Port of Ness) is in the parish of Ness, the most northerly parish in Lewis.

Crosbost

The peaceful crofting village of Crosbost is reached near the end of the B897 road that branches of the main Stornoway to Tarbet road at Liurbost.

Ardroil Sands

Camas Uige or Uig Bay is in a national scenic area in the south west of Lewis.

Heaval

Heaval is the highest point on the Isle of Barra at 383 metres

Traigh Mhangurstadh (Mangersta Beach)

Traigh Mhangurstadh (Mangersta) is a beautiful beach in the parish of Uig in south west Lewis.

Coll Beach

Beautiful beach approximately five miles from Stornoway. Suitable for walking, wind-surfing, kite flying. There is also a caravan park with toilets

    This area, from the township of Taobh Tuath to the headland of Rubh' an Teampaill, has numerous sites of archaeological significance.
