About
I am a Scottish artist, photographer, and writer living on the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides. The stillness of the landscape, surrounded by sea, weather, and open space lies at the heart of my creative practice. My work is rooted in observation and slowness, shaped by the rhythms of nature and the restorative power of quiet.
I work across photography, ink, and acrylic painting, creating pieces inspired by the Hebridean sea and shoreline. Alongside this, I design creative retreats, an online membership, and a yearly festival, all founded on a deep belief that creativity is essential to wellbeing. Bringing people together in calm, beautiful places allows space for reflection, connection, and creative renewal.
My gallery, The Galerie, was created as a welcoming, contemplative space, somewhere to pause and feel held by art inspired by the Hebrides. My practice is informed by family influences: my mother’s encouragement of a creative life, and my Dutch heritage, including my grandmother’s written and visual reflections from her travels through the Highlands and Hebrides, fragments of which now appear within the gallery. The Galerie is built outside my home in Geocrab and is opne by appointment or as unmanned outwit opening hours. You are welcome to stop by and stay a while.
At its core, my work is about creativity for well being and sharing that with others.
