About

30 Backhill owners Anna and Hilary are delighted to welcome you to their stone built, beautifully renovated thatched cottage on the idyllic island of Berneray in the Western Isles. The cottage is cosy and romantic, with a wood-burning stove, a double bedroom with Harris Tweed soft furnishings, a good sized bathroom and an elegant sitting room with two good sofas, a dining area and a fully-fitted, well-equipped kitchen to one side. WiFi provided. All rooms look out over the sea, where you can see seals and even an otter if you’re lucky. Enjoy the magic of Berneray, with its white sandy beaches, abundant wild-life, flower-carpeted machair and slow pace of life. Sit in the garden on sunny days and watch the boats in and out of the harbour, enjoy walks over hills and beaches, catch the ferry to Harris for a day out, or drive across the causeway to enjoy the additional delights of the Uists. At the end of the day, relax by the fire and enjoy our selection of Hebridean books and guidebooks.
