About

Set on a hillside with panoramic sea views and close to the beach, this traditional croft house, once our family home, is now pet friendly self-catering accommodation in South Uist.

ABOUT THE HOUSE

You will find our cottage in the village of West Kilbride, which is near Polochar, South Uist. We have 4 bedrooms; 1 double, 1 twin room and 2 single rooms. It is perfect to accommodate a family.

The modern kitchen is newly refurbished and is fully equipped with a dishwasher. Like all the rooms, it boasts spectacular views.

The cosy living/dining room is perfect to relax after a long day exploring the islands and great to watch the sunset.

LOCATION

The cottage is in an ideal location to explore Eriskay, Benbecula, North Uist and Barra.

You will be spoilt for choice with beaches. There is 20 miles of beach along the west coast which you can access nearby and is ideal for exploring the Machair. Here you will find an abundance of wild flora and fauna and archaeological sites to explore, check out the Uist Unearthed App.

If golf is your thing, we have an 18 hole “Old Tom Morris” golf course set on the Machair at Askernish.

Take a 10-minute walk to the Polachar Inn and enjoy a meal and a drink and take in the panoramic views looking across the sound of Barra.

Visit Kilbride Cafe and taste homemade baking, which is available daily, before you journey across to Eriskay where you will learn about the cargo of whisky that went aground just off the South Uist coast at the Am Politican, inspiring the film Whisky Galore.  Here you can also get ferry to the Isle of Barra for a day packed with adventure.
