Talla Na Mara sits opposite Niseaboist beach, famed for its views across the sound of Taransay. Translated from Gaelic, Talla na Mara means the centre by the sea. Opened in 2017 as a multi-purpose site, you’ll find a place to eat and drink in the privately run An Traigh, purchase handcrafted souvenirs from the foyer gallery, visit the open artist studios or simply relax, regroup and enjoy the vistas.
We also offer a sheltered bike rack and bike repair station for our cycling visitors to secure their transport or perform basic repairs while they eat, shop and unwind.
With regular cultural and social events and the West Harris Trust office staff on hand 5 days a week for a friendly welcome and information about the islands, motorhome users can extend their visit by utilising the campervan facilities on site, just a short walk from the beach. Owned by the community, the West Harris Trust manages 7225 acres of land, including the beautiful Horgabost, Seilebost and Luskentyre beaches. Our mission is to revitalise the community, create environmentally sustainable energy and conserve and increase understanding of our stunning natural heritage, culture and history. Talla Na Mara is our latest step in this process.
