About

The Hebrides People Visitor Centre is currently closed for a major redevelopment and is expected to reopen in Spring 2028.

The centre is home to Hebrides People – Cò Leis Thu?, our specialist genealogy service for those tracing Western Isles ancestry. Drawing on extensive local records and oral traditions, we can produce detailed family trees reaching back up to seven generations.

During the redevelopment period, our genealogy research service and online bookshop will continue as normal, and we warmly welcome enquiries for private research.

We look forward to giving you a warm Harris welcome when we reopen in Spring 2028.
