The short walk round the bay has excellent displays, telling the story of the herring industry on Barra. The bay was once filled with so many fishing boats that it was possible to walk across the bay, boat to boat, without getting your feet wet.
Vatersay
The Annie Jane Monument marks one of the most tragic events in the history of Vatersay, and one of the worst disasters in maritime history anywhere in the world. The monument looks over Bagh Siar, where in 1843, 348 men, women, and children perished when the brig Annie Jane ran aground in a storm.
