Fiona Simes is an established landscape painter and printmaker who followed her heart to the Outer Hebrides years ago and has immersed herself in island life. The Hebridean Art Studio is a repurposed Army Cadet Hall which has become an art gallery and working studio situated in the heart of Lewis, right on the Hebridean Way. The studio is full of paintings and prints which were directly inspired from the stunning landscape of Lewis and Harris. Whether you are walking, cycling, or driving the studio is a great place to stop, providing plenty of parking and has full access for all. Dogs are also welcome. At the Hebridean Art Studio grab yourself a free tea or coffee so you are able to relax and enjoy Fiona’s landscape painting, watch the process of lino printing and get a unique reminder of your trip to the Outer Hebrides.
The Kinloch Historical Society museum and bistro are a short hop down the road from the studio, you can also enjoy spectacular views across to the Harris Hills. Fiona is also a fountain of knowledge when it comes to local attractions, walks, spotting wildlife and where to get the freshest seafood (her husband is a fisherman).
Sea eagles are among the varied bird life which can be spotted from the studio, there is also a resident robin who likes to pop in for a biscuit sometimes.
The studio will be open from Monday to Saturday from the beginning of April until the end of October, for any other times of the year please contact Fiona to arrange a private viewing. You can also visit her website for more information on: https://www.hebrideanartstudio.co.uk/ .
