About

6 Laxay is a family-owned holiday cottage in the quiet village of Laxay (Lacasaigh), in the Lochs district of the Isle of Lewis. It looks out over Loch Erisort and the surrounding hills, about 100 yards off the A859. Stornoway is 15 to 20 minutes away by car; Tarbert, gateway to Harris, roughly 35.

Inside, the house sleeps six in three double bedrooms. The master has a king-size bed and Sky TV. Upstairs, the second double has a desk, handy for remote workers. The third bedroom sits on the ground floor beside the shower room, with a fold-up single that turns it into a twin. Evenings belong to the sitting room. Light the wood-burning stove (your first basket of logs is supplied), sink into one of the two sofas and pick from Sky's full sports and movies package, Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ or Paramount+. The fully equipped kitchen has a cooker, dishwasher, microwave and air fryer. Starlink broadband typically runs at 200 to 300 Mbps, so working from the Hebrides is entirely realistic. Walkers will appreciate the washer-dryer, a drying pulley on the landing and radiators ready for soaked boots and jackets. Oil central heating keeps the place warm whatever the Atlantic throws at it. Electricity, heating, bed linen and towels are all included. Dogs are welcome, up to two per stay, and the small fenced garden catches the evening sun. There is off-road parking for several cars.

From the door, the Callanish Standing Stones are around 25 minutes away, while the white-sand beaches of Harris, the west coast of Lewis and the northern strands at Tolsta all lie within a 50-minute drive. Leurbost, 4 miles up the road, has a shop and filling station; Stornoway has supermarkets, a fishmonger and a butcher.
