Eilean Fraoich Campsite, Shawbost, Isle of Lewis
A warm island welcome awaits you at this friendly, family‑run campsite in Shawbost, a pretty crofting village on the scenic west coast of Lewis. Opened in 1992, Eilean Fraoich sits just a mile from Shawbost shore and its freshwater loch, with Beinn Bhragair rising behind and the murmuring Atlantic ocean never far away.
The campsite is open from 1 April to 30 September, welcoming tents, campervans, motorhomes and caravans throughout the season. Set within a gentle meadow, it’s a peaceful base for exploring the west side of Lewis or cycling the Hebridean Way, with beaches, walks and traditional crofting landscapes close by. Both dog‑friendly and child‑friendly, it offers a relaxed, easygoing atmosphere that suits families, solo travellers and island wanderers alike. Not far from the Calanais Standing Stones and Gearrannan Blackhouse Village.
Gguests can also book the Willerby Atlanta 40ft x 13ft static caravan, affectionately known as “Balloch”, for comfortable holiday lets with extra space and privacy.
