About

5a was originally built in the early 1950’s when the family moved from the original stone house located directly across the road (this is now An Taigh Clach – The Stone House).

This two-storey property was completed renovated and consists of an open plan kitchen / dining area, lounge with a multi fuel stove and ample wood and peat for the duration of your stay, family bathroom with bath and separate shower, master double bedroom, utility room and WC all on the ground floor.

Double and twin bedrooms are located upstairs along with a small seating area for some quiet reading or just sitting back and relaxing.  Both the lounge and dining room have patio doors leading to the fenced garden. There are two decked areas with patio furniture to allow ‘al fresco’ dining and behold the stunning sunsets and the elusive ‘merry dancers’ (aurora borealis).

To the rear of the property, the garage has been repurposed as a games room with pool table, dart board, wide screen TV, drinks cooler with seating for those just wishing to ‘chill’ and an infra-red sauna. In the secure garden area, tucked behind privacy fencing, you will find an off-grid, wood fired hot tub which comes with an ample supply of wood.

We are active crofters, running Scottish Blackface and North County Cheviot ewes.  Our guests are very welcome to join us ‘on the croft’ which could involve anything from lambing in the spring, sheep shearing in the summer, lamb sales in the Autumn, livestock feeding in the winter and year round movement of these sheep from one enclosure to another.
