About

Experience the magic of Ceòlas Summer School and Fringe Events, taking place in South Uist from 4 to 11 July 2026. For one unforgettable week, the island hosts the sights and sounds of traditional music, Gaelic song and dance at the heart of one of Scotland's strongest Gaelic communities.

At the centre of the festival is the renowned Ceòlas Summer School, where participants enjoy expert tuition in piping, fiddle, Gaelic singing, step dancing, Scotch reels, quadrilles and the Gaelic language. Set within the living Gaelic culture of South Uist, Ceòlas celebrates the deep connections between music, song, dance and community.

Learning extends far beyond the classroom, with opportunities to experience authentic cèilidhs, informal gatherings and local hospitality that have kept these traditions alive for generations.

Throughout the week, a vibrant programme of fringe events offers something for everyone, including lively cèilidhs, pub sessions, guided walks and plenty more, making it the perfect time to experience the culture, music and warm welcome of South Uist.
