B&B in Achmore, ten miles from Callanish with flexible check in, bike racks, drying facilities and wi-fi. Meal options for walkers and cyclists on the Hebridean Way can be pre booked. Covid Protocols are in place for 2021-22.
On the Tarbert to Callanish section of the Cycle Route, the scenery is dramatic and majestic. Enroute are Taste n Sea, Bowlgas and the Cafe at The Kinloch Hub, Balallan both great places to eat.
Cyclists can also purchase provisions for an evening meal at the Keystore 5 miles east of Westend. It is just north of the A858/59 junction. There is also Crust, a pizza van two miles west of the junction on the A858.
On the Heb Way Walking Route, Westend is situated in Achmore, half way on the final section between Laxay and Stornoway. Luggage can be trasfered from the previous evening's accomodation and onwards to Stornoway if necessary. Drying area for tent and larger items are provided.
As the Heb Way Walking Route does not pass the Keystore Shop, meal packs can be ordered in advance and guests can prepare an evening meal in the kitchenette at Westend.
If you are cycling or walking on a Sunday do remember that all rural shops are closed, but a quick request in advance and we can provide you with sustenance.
There are several walk options in the area around Westend. Take the opportunity to visit the enigmatic Callanish Stones,There is a bus to Callanish mid afternoon returning to Westend at 5.30.
In the evening you can relax on the patio overlooking a vista of moorland, hills and lochs and watch the sun go down in the west.
