UHI North, West and Hebrides is a partner of UHI, the University of the Highlands and Islands, a distinctive tertiary partnership delivering further education, higher education, research and innovation across the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. We are committed to providing accessible, flexible and high-quality learning that is shaped by, and responds to, the needs of the communities we serve.
With 19 campuses and learning centres across the North and West Highlands, Skye and the Outer Hebrides, we deliver education and training from senior phase and access level through to postgraduate study and PhD research. Our flexible approach enables students to study on campus, online or through blended learning, ensuring opportunities are available regardless of location.
Our curriculum is closely aligned to the region's economic, cultural and environmental priorities. We offer specialist provision in areas including adventure studies, archaeology, aquaculture and maritime, engineering, advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, environmental science and sustainable development, Gaelic language and culture, creative industries, equine studies, gamekeeping, golf, tourism and hospitality. Alongside teaching, we undertake applied research and knowledge exchange that supports sustainable rural and island development, working in partnership with businesses, communities and the public sector. UHI North, West and Hebrides was established on 1 August 2023 through the merger of UHI North Highland, UHI Outer Hebrides and UHI West Highland. The merger created a single regional institution with the scale, expertise and local presence to better meet the changing needs of our communities while retaining strong local connections across our campuses and centres.
As an anchor institution, we play a vital role in supporting regional economic growth, developing skills, widening participation in education and helping people to live, learn and work within their communities. Through our teaching, research and partnerships, we are committed to creating opportunities, strengthening communities and contributing to a sustainable and prosperous future for the North and West Highlands, Skye and the Outer Hebrides. UHI North, West and Hebrides is led by Principal and Chief Executive Lydia Rohmer and is the trading name of the Board of Management at UHI North, West and Hebrides.
