About

Founded in 2017 the Isle of Barra Soap Company makes small batches of handmade soap, bath bombs and candles. We also produce a range of gifts including embroidered T shirts, Hoodies, Beanies, Tote Bags, Harris Tweed Pictures and knitted hats. We are able to respond quickly to specific customer requirements for our embroidered goods as they are all made on Barra.

We are based in Castlebay and are just a couple of hundred yards from the iconic Kisimul castle. Wherever possible we use local ingredients in our soap products.

We grow our own calendula and we harvest small quantities of seaweed and heather. We use Barra's famous cockleshell sand in one of our soap recipes and the

crushed shells are used in our candle bases.

Our soaps are free from SLS and SLES. They are also vegan and cruelty free compliant. As required by law our soap and bath bomb recipes are all accredited

by a Chartered Chemist and meet all current United Kingdom legislation. We list our soap and bath bombs on the Cosmetic Products Notification Portal as

required by the UK Government.

Our products and procedures have been approved by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar's Trading Standards.

We are members of the Guild of Craft Soap and Toiletry Makers.
