Hebridean Way Cycling Route - North Uist and Berneray






The route from the causeway at Grimsay follows the main road to Clachan where it follows the road along the stunning west and north coasts of North Uist. The Route then goes northwards and over the causeway to Berneray to the ferry terminal. This part of the route is 31.7 miles.

Cycle Waypoints

  1. 1 Moorcroft Campsite to the left
  2. 2 Temple View Hotel to the right and then up to the left is the ruins of Teampull na Trionaid
  3. 3 Keep going straight. The route follows the road around west and north coast of North Uist
  4. 4 Smokehouse and gift shop to the left
  5. 5 Claddach Kirkibost Cafe and gift shop to the left
  6. 6 Westford Inn on the left
  7. 7 Bayhead shop to the left and The Tractor Shed bunkhouse nearby
  8. 8 The route turns left round Balranald
  9. 9 To the left is Balranald RSPB Reserve and visitor centre. Also Balranad Campsite and Dunes Catering
  10. 10 Rejoin the main road and turn to the left
  11. 11 Scolpaig Tower to the left
  12. 12 The stunning tidal island of Vallay is visible to the left
  13. 13 Cafe to the left
  14. 14 Supermarket to the right
  15. 15 The route follows the road round to the right
  16. 16 Turn left to Berneray
  17. 17 Turn left for the Berneray causeway
  18. 18 Berneray causeway. You have just completed 7 islands, 3 to go!
  19. 19 Turn right for Berneray ferry terminal
  20. 20 Berneray Ferry Terminal waiting room has toilets and shower. You have just completed 8 islands, 2 to go!
