Virtually half way between Tarbert and Stornoway on the A859, the Kinloch Historical Society is the perfect Pit Stop for those walking the Hebridean Way and in need of some respite, or for those cycling/motoring between Lewis & Harris looking to stretch their legs.
As well as its main work of preserving and sharing the Heritage of the area through publishing, recording and hosting conferences, the Society’s newly refurbished Hub boasts several additional facilities; including a spacious café, with stunning views of the Harris and South Lochs hills, offering light meals, teas & coffees and cakes. Currently on display in our café are the Lochs selection of Margaret Ferguson’s paintings, as part of the Iolaire 100 commemorative collection.
There is also a coin operated Launderette, Charity Shop, and a Museum and Gift Shop. Free Wi-fi, toilets, baby changing facilities and a selection of leaflets, maps and local information are also available.
The Hub is fully accessible, offering disabled access throughout, as well as providing ample parking, with disabled spaces and two electric charging car points, as well as an outside water tap for public use.
Do stop by… our staff and volunteers are very friendly and welcoming.
