The Uist and Barra Art on the Map trail runs from June 1 to August 31 2022. It’s a free trail of 30 artists’ studios, arts businesses and other art-related events.

The trail offers a wide range of art and craft forms, including painting, prints, ceramics, photography, weaving, installations, book-binding, antler-crafts, knitting and candle-making.

The venues include artists’ personal studio spaces, galleries selling work from a range of artists and pop-up events in local halls. The trail will show you parts of the island and local life that might be otherwise inaccessible.

Use the Art on the Map website to browse the artist profiles to identify artists that interest you. Then look at the interactive Google map in each profile to find their location. There’s also a daily calendar showing when venues are open (some are only open between certain dates, some require an appointment before your visit).

In addition, our annual Open Summer Exhibition runs from July 2nd to August 6th at the Taigh Chearsabagh Museum and Arts Centre in Lochmaddy. Call in to see examples of work from the Trail artists. The in-gallery assistant is available to answer any questions on the exhibition, the artists or the Art on the Map Trail

And look out for the Art on the Map Exhibition signs outside each venue.
