Alpacan is a family run croft 6 miles outside Stornoway on the Island of Lewis. The croft has been in the family for over 200yrs and overlooks the beautiful Coll beach.
We offer Alpaca Meet and Greets and Croft Treks throught the year.
The Meet and Greet is suitable for all ages and abilities and lasts around 1.5hrs . During a Meet and Greet you will first learn some alpaca facts and safety information, you will then help collect their food and walk down the croft to meet our boys and help feed them. We will then halter up some alpacas and you'll be able to take them for a short walk in the croft and have plenty of time for photos. You will also have time to meet our various hens, rabbits and Shetland ponies.
Our Croft Treks include all the above but we will be able to take the alpacas for a longer trek, and if the weather is dry we can pack a snack to have in the croft and take in the views. This usually lasts around 2 hours and you get to spend more time with the alpacas and learn more about these fascinating animals !
Croft Treks can only be organised at certain times of the year and are dependent on where the Shetland ponies are and if there is ongoing croft management.
We also organise special events such as alpaca yoga and birthday parties for over 8's....message us to find out more !!!
I'm also a paediatric nurse in the local hospital, because of this my availability for alpaca experiences can vary and are dependent on my shift work ....please check on the website www.alpacan.co.uk for available dates, or if you have any special dates then please get in touch with me.
