About

Stornoway is situated 30 miles off the north west coast of Scotland it is the main seaport of the Hebridean Island chain and provides a vital link to mainland Britain.

This lively bustling town has everything you would expect of a modern Commercial Port as well as including one of the leading slipway facilities on the West Coast and islands. A pontoon facility with a total of 80 berths for vessels up to a maximum length of 24 metres, is situated at the north end of the Inner Harbour beyond the Lifeboat pontoon berth.  The 80 berths are available 12 months of the year.  Berths can be allocated to visiting vessels although there is a great demand for these berths during the summer months.  In order to ascertain berth availability prior to arrival you should contact the Harbour Office during working hours, or the Duty Watchkeeper after hours and at weekends.  In any event, visiting boats should give one hour’s notice to the Harbour Watchroom on Channel 12 VHF.

There is fresh water readily available on the pontoons, along with shore power and Wi-Fi.

A new marina in Newton, has opened and is primarilty for longer stay vessels. A maximum vessel length of 15m with available draft of 2.5m. Shore power is available.

On arrival at the pontoon berth, you should report to the Harbour Office or adjacent Watchroom to confirm vessel details, length of stay and make the relevant payment.  All major credit cards are acceptable.  At this point you will be issued with a card to permit access to the pontoons.  This card should be returned to the Office or dropped in the box by pontoon gates prior to departure.
