About

Comunn Eachdraidh Nis is a visitor centre situated in North Dell on the main A857. Our mission is to preserve and promote the history, language, culture and heritage of the Ness to Ballantrushal area of the Isle of Lewis for the benefit of the local community, its visitors and future generations.  The centre boasts a local history museum, two exhibition spaces, local history archive, a gift shop and café. Our café offers delicious food and friendly service. From freshly prepared soups and snacks to a range of irresistible home-baking, we cater for all tastes. Along with many ingredients grown on the premises in our polycrub (when available), we are also proud to promote local businesses and sustainability by using use bread from the Blackhouse Bakery (Stornoway), eggs from Air an Lot (North Dell), Ness Black Pudding from Cross Stores. Free WiFi is available throughout the building and if you're on the Hebridean Cycle Route, we'll happily refill your water bottle free of charge.
