Gualan is Gaelic for shoulder and refers to the shoulder of sand bank across from the house - a great place to walk across to at low tide. Being close to the causeway across to Benbecula places the house so central in the Uists that you can easily tour the entire length and breadth of these stunning islands - all connected by causeways so no need to take a ferry unless you want to head across to Barra for a day trip.
