INTRODUCTION: The islands of Barra & Vatersay are the most southerly inhabited islands in the Western Isles.  A visit to Barra will be well rewarded by the peace and tranquillity of the island.  You can take a leisurely stroll along many of the is- land’s white sandy beaches; entice the seals to shore; enjoy some bird watch- ing; collect a bunch of lovely wild flowers growing freely in the machair fields or for the more energetic, you can take a climb up the hills where your efforts will be rewarded with magnificent views of the surrounding islands.  Barra is also ideal for cyclists. ACCOMMODATION: The house comprises of two bedrooms, shower-room, kitchen with dining area and living room. Both bedrooms are equipped with bedside lights and panel heaters; shower-room has heated towel rail, fan heater and towels; kitchen/dining area is spacious, complete with ap- pliances and utensils; The living room has electric fire, panel heater, TV., radio, C.D. and tape facilities, (please bring your own choice of music),  All rooms are fully furnished.  2 storage heaters are located in the hall and kitchen.  All windows are double-glazed.  Linen and towels provided. Regret no animals or smoking inside house. CHARGES:  Weekly charges are as follows:                         APR/MAY/SEPT.  £350.00 JUNE/JULY/AUGUST £380.00 OCTOBER – MARCH £350.00 DEPOSIT: A deposit of 20% is to be paid on confirmation of booking and balance forwarded 4 weeks before holiday commences.  Cancellation will only be accepted 6 weeks prior to commence- ment of holiday. Electricity: paid by key meter, instructions in cottage. Bookings:  on weekly basis: Saturday to Saturday. Check-in time 4.00pm. Check-out time 8.00am. The key for the cottage will be in the door on your arrival. Shopping:  All the shops for groceries are in Castlebay, which is 5 miles from ‘Meadowbank’.  A reliable bus service is operable daily.   Advance order of groceries can be arranged on request.   DIRECTIONS: Arriving by ferry from Oban:  Drive off ferry uphill, turn right, drive 5 miles until you reach signpost Bogach/Bruernish junction, turn right and ’Meadowbank’ is second house on your left.     Arriving by ferry from Eriskay: Drive 1 mile to road end and turn left, drive for 1 mile to Northbay junction – turn left and drive for further ½ mile to Bogach/Bruernish junction turn left ‘Meadowbank’ is second house on your left. Arriving by plane:  Drive south for 2 miles to Northbay junction. Drive a further ½ mile to Bogach/Bruernish junction turn left and ‘Meadowbank’ is second house on your left. A bus or taxi can be pre-arranged.
