Taigh Rona is designed so that the view over Luskentyre is maximised whether you are in the main social room or as you move through this house. This is a cleverly planned house in two parts, linked by a glazed multi-function entrance area, with the bedroom wing being accessed through a door which ensures separation from the social space offering peace and restfulness.

There are two master bedrooms with ensuite facilities located on the ground floor, each with picture window across the bay. The twin-bedded rooms, upstairs, share a family shower room and on the landing, area is a seating area, a perfect spot to immerse yourself with a riveting read or to absorb the amazing view. Only metres from these windows the tide ebbs and flows twice daily. Whether watching the wide variety of birdlife on the shore, the turquoise blue, sparkling sea against the white shell sand, or the ever-changing weather, what is certain, is that you will be captivated from the start.

Walking directly from the house you can climb the hills of Beinn Dhubh and its neighbour Beinn Losgaintir to capture the sensational views beyond. If you are lucky, you may see a golden or even the larger white-tailed eagle soaring in the sky above you. Alternatively, for a more leisurely stroll, explore the shoreline to the huge sand dunes at Luskentyre beach and wander back along the single-track road to the house.

Further afield there are plenty more beaches to explore within an hour’s drive including Scarista, Huisinis, Northton, Seilebost and Horgebost.  Recently popularised in Peter May’s novel The Coffin Road which links the golden road on the east side of Harris to the cemetery at Luskentyre. Is a wonderful circular walk of approximately 9 miles for those who enjoy off road walking.
